Chuncho Chocolate & Functional Mushrooms
About Chuncho
In the gorgeous Valley of Quelloúno Peru, Feliciano and his family have been growing cacao following the principles of agro-ecological farming for many generations. Over the years a lot of the farmers in the region have replaced cacao trees for more producing and resistant hybrid trees. The Feliciano farm continued growing the traditional variety, resulting in a very unique, soft and delicate flavored cacao, coming from his original trees, some over a 100 years old!
This way of farming goes beyond organic principles and thrives without the use of pesticides and herbicides. Creating healthy soil, a robust environment for flora, fauna and funga to prosper, resulting in an abundance of native plants, fruits and jungle life.
With the income of this chocolate, old barren or deserted plots of land in the area are reforested with native trees and of course special cacao seedlings.
We aim to source our ingredients from places we feel connected with and that share our vision on personal, communal and environmental health. We are honored to have come across this distinctive and unprecedented cacao to go with our beloved mushrooms. Thanks to our friends at Pure Kakaw we can produce this very special and unique mushroom chocolate. We feel blessed to be able to fuse our two passions together.
Taste notes: orange, lemon, banana, tropical fruit, delicate, long aftertaste.
